Grande Portage Grande Portage Resources Ltd. Announces Completion Of Phase I Geophysics - Significant Massive Sulphide Zone Found

| | Vancouver, B.C., December 19, 2005: Grande Portage Resources Ltd, (TSX-V "GPG") ("Grande Portage" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that it has completed Phase I geophysics on its 100% optioned Merry Widow project near Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. The grid area covered approximately 1.2 x 1.5 km and was designed to explore for possible new skarn mineralization associated with the Keystone Intrusion. The survey, conducted by SJ Geophysics Ltd. of Delta, BC, consisted of a 3D induced polarization array. This type of survey is especially useful in skarn and related disseminated mineralization associated with intrusive activity.
While establishing the grid, crews located a new massive sulphide zone several metres wide consisting of massive sulphides, primarily pyrhotite with lesser chalcopyrite, and bornite within a sheared, brecciated gabbro. This style of mineralization appears structurally related. Two other areas of mineralization, one in float and subcrop, and one in place were also located. Rock samples and silt samples gathered during the work are now at assay.
Following receipt of the current geophysical survey data and the assays, the Company intends to review all historical data on the Merry Widow property with a view to ascertaining a logical drilling program early in the New Year. The property covers several former producers, primarily iron skarns but also significant occurrences of gold, copper, cobalt, zinc, and silver. Previous operators in the late 1980s had targeted with drilling gold-copper discoveries in the surrounding wall rock of the past producing pits. These drill results warrant further investigation.
Shortly, the company will announce its plans for 2006 upon receipt of all outstanding data and incorporation of preexisting information into a digitized data set.
